AC | Prototype H - Pageau 9T8

Description

The Pageau 9T8 is a sports prototype racing car built by French car manufacturer Pageau for the 24 Heures Race Hypercar category in the new Prototype Hybrid Series.

The car was designed to take full advantage of the freedoms allowed by the new regulations for the Hybrid Prototype Series. The first area to benefit from the new regulations is aerodynamics. Indeed, the latter allows the vehicle to have only one adjustable aerodynamic element without specifying what it should be, thus allowing Pageau to do without the rear spoiler.

Regarding the engine, the 9T8 is equipped with a 670 hp (500 kW) twin-turbo 2.6L V6 mated to a 272 hp (200 kW) electric motor, all assembled in a 7-speed sequential gearbox.

*This mod isn't a representation of a car raced in any particular year or season, instead presenting a collection of the various kits used during its lifetime.
**While our features are compatible with the current CSP version (0.2.2), future changes may cause incompatibilities.

Hybrid Prototypes Series - Pageau 9T8

Introduction:

We've invested significant effort in replicating key aspects of physics crucial to shaping the handling and performance of Hybrid Prototype cars. These enhancements bring a fresh level of authenticity and engagement to your races in Assetto Corsa. Join us on this journey as we unlock a new dimension of realism and excitement in Hybrid Prototype car racing.

Starting the Hybrid Prototype

Manual Ignition:

In our mod, starting the car is a hands-on experience. You're in control. Assign the "IGNITION" function to the "Extra option A" switch in the controls/patch settings, accessible in Content Manager, or utilize the Extended Controls app provided.

For Pit Starts:

To start from the pits, turn on the ignition, shift into first gear, and dump the clutch to start the petrol engine.

For Hot Lap Starts:

Starting from a hot lap position involves turning on the ignition (Extra option A) and pressing the starter button (Extra option B) to start the petrol engine.

Control Bindings and "Extended Controls App":

Our mod comes with VRC's "Extended Controls App," an in-game tool designed to simplify access and customization of key bindings tailored exclusively for your Hybrid Prototype. For a detailed guide on the app and its installation, consult the dedicated manual provided with the mod. Extra option A, as described earlier, remains the ignition option, providing consistency across the control setup. An advantageous aspect of the Extended Controls app is its real-time key binding capability during gameplay. Say goodbye to exiting the game to adjust control settings – tweak key assignments or joystick/wheel buttons on the fly.

Limitations:

Functionalities such as changing ICE maps, Power Levels, and Brake Power cannot be modified on the fly. Ensure your Hybrid Prototype is stationary in the car's setup menu before making adjustments to these settings.

Physics

Aerodynamics:

Crafted with precision to meet Hybrid Prototype Series regulations, this car places a special emphasis on aerodynamics. Distinctively, it breaks convention by lacking a rear wing, making its aerodynamics exceptionally responsive to variations in ride height – a feature evident in braking zones and elevation changes. To accommodate various driving dynamics, the car offers two homologated aerokits, each with subtle variations that influence the overall behavior of the vehicle.

Energy Management:

The inclusion of a front motor introduces the potential for understeer when active, adding a nuanced layer to the driving experience. Optimizing braking distances is crucial for efficient battery management, thanks to our custom energy consumption.

CPHYS COSMIC suspension and ARB:

Adding complexity to the car setup, the CPHYS COSMIC suspension feature is integrated. This enhances suspension behavior dynamically and unlocks additional setup options, including the ability to tweak the Steering Ratio. Keep in mind that this is our initial implementation, with more enhancements expected in the future. For longer stints, the car features an adjustable rear Anti-Roll Bar (ARB). This proves invaluable, especially considering the car's inclination to be less conservative with rear tire preservation.

Power Unit Management

Electric Power Delivery:

Maximizing electric power delivery required a unique approach, as the standard vanilla "FRONT MOTORS" solution in Assetto Corsa didn't initially support this feature. To overcome this, a workaround involving AWD2 viscous locking was implemented, ensuring efficient power and regenerative torque transfer to the front axle. A custom algorithm seamlessly transitions between energy recovery and power delivery during braking events.

Power Output and Regulations:

Within the Hybrid Prototype Series regulations, the power output is capped at a maximum of 520KW, representing the combined power of the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Hybrid components. This limit applies within the RPM range of 4700 to 8500RPM. Users can dynamically modify the power level, and the algorithm adjusts both petrol and electric motor outputs accordingly. The petrol engine is inherently restricted to 500KW to comply with regulations.

Torque Split and Power Management:

The torque split option allows drivers to dictate the bias towards electric power. The algorithm fine-tunes the petrol engine's output to uphold the specified power level, providing customizable control. Four deployment strategies enable users to manage deployment speeds, ensuring fair competition in varying conditions. The Energy level per stint adheres to Hybrid Prototype Series regulations, functioning as a virtual fuel tank. Exceeding this limit may disable the MGUK, potentially resulting in penalties.

Battery Management Algorithm:

The car employs a specialized recovery and delivery algorithm to balance braking performance and energy recovery effectively. Adjusting braking power percentage is crucial to finding the right balance, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to regulations.

Electric Motor Operations:

Below 120kph, the electric motor operates in the 20KW mode for pit starts and during yellow flags.

Personalized Traction Control:

Equipped with a personalized traction control system called CPHYS TC2, this feature empowers drivers to define permissible sliding degrees and intrusiveness levels. Governed by a tailor-made algorithm, the traction control optimizes traction while allowing drivers to manipulate the car's rotation through throttle control.

Steering Wheel Display and LED Indicators

Car Display

A: This section provides information about your Virtual Fuel Tank or Maximum Stint Energy left, along with an estimate of the remaining laps below.
B: The Gear indicator is displayed here, and its background color changes to:

  • Green during electric power deployment,
  • Orange when in the pitlane, and
  • Yellow under a yellow flag.

C: This area represents your battery level.

D: In this section, you can monitor various vital aspects such as tyre carcass
temperatures, brake temperatures, and tyre pressures measured in bars.

E: Current tyre compound.

F: Traction Control settings are displayed here in the format of TargetSlip – Cutoff level%.

G: At the bottom of the display, you'll find details about the car's current configuration, including ARB offset, GRIP (current torque/pedal map), engine brake (EOB), Brake Balance (BBal), the current display page (Mode), Deployment strategy (Strat), lap time, torque split (Trq Split), and the current tyre compound in use.

Cockpit LED Indicators:

Slip Rate Indication:

Lights beside the car's windshield play a crucial role in indicating the slip rate. As the slip factor increases, the lights progressively turn blue, converging from the sides to the center. This dual-purpose system not only informs about slip rate dynamics but also signifies the conclusion of electric power deployment when approaching the maximum allowable speed for deployment.

Steering Wheel Lights:

The steering wheel lights are multi-functional, each color and pattern indicating specific aspects of the car's status.

Functions and Colors:

  • ICE off (Purple): When the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is turned off, the lights emit a purple hue, serving as a clear visual indicator of the engine status.
  • Alternating Flash (Antistall): An alternating flash pattern signals the activation of the antistall mechanism, providing a crucial alert to the driver about the system's engagement.
  • Top Left Triangle LED (Blue - KERS Overtake): The top left triangle LED lights up in blue to indicate the activation of the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) overtake function. This empowers the driver to strategically use additional power in specific situations.
